_____________________________________________________________________ We're open! Thank you for your patience-I really hope you think it was worth it. Montage is now more open and bright with a couple of rough edges. The look is SOPH-LOFT and truly has a sense of place. Fort Langley was a mill town and this is reflected in the rough fir, industrial-style lighting and the re-purposed pallet wall behind the cash counter. Complimenting this are sleek white floors and glittering new jewellery cases. AND---we now carry 18Karat furniture. Designed by renowned Vancouver architect Peter Cardew the line follows a design principle of "simple design connected to the natural world". The materials are oak, marble, steel and leather and the lines are simple and contemporary. Check out our "whole room" concept. Your fav's are still here---Karyn Chopik Studio, Rita D, Acca Kappa, Barefoot Venus; and there's a lot more arriving in the next few weeks. Watch for recycled wine barrel chandeliers from Europe, wire pendants with Edison bulbs, new baby clothing from New York, a new soap line from Alberta, and "pillow pals" for kids from Toronto. Now, I'll be compiling a list here over the next while of local places we favour for dining, coffee and foodstuffs. As well, I'll be including music lists and Montage Itune compilations(once I figure out how all that works) :-) Two Chefs and a Table If you are tiring of Yupped up Yaletown and want to check out Railtown---this is it. The area is rather "adventurous" but we love rough edges. It's cozy and appealling, with a Grandma went Baroque feel. High ceilings, communal table+doubles, liquid music and a really amazing grape vine painted on the feature wall=a space you want to spend some time in. We're partial to the weekend brunch---try monsieur andres brunch which is buthcher block charcuterie and cheese in grilled sourdough, over easy egg and parmesan hollandaise---yes, handmade hollandaise. Your coffee order is heralded by a french press brought to your table. Get there early---the place always fills fast. 305 Alexander St., Vancouver Marshall april 10,2010 __________________________________________________________________
Past Topic: Welcome to a, new year and a refreshing change for Montage. I am going to use this space to update you seasonally on what's happening in store, on line and what's upcoming. Maybe I'll ramble a bit once in a while- you can skip that stuff if you like. But my goal is to present our concept in a personal light. I'd like to show you where our inspiration is generated- hoping to inspire you. This is the good stuff! There will be a "Our Favorite's" list ... Local places we like to visit/shop/eat. You are encouraged to submit choices of your own (Best breakfast, Best butcher, Best Coffee, etc.) Here's a little Surprise ! Montage will be closing February 21 , 2010 and will re-open Saturday, March 6th. During this time, the whole store will be totally renovated and refreshed. We are presenting a whole new look and will be developing further relationships with local suppliers like 18Karat and Karyn Chopik. The concept is "product with provenance". Our focus will centre on products with a story - where and how they are designed and made and what purpose they will serve. Who is behind what we sell. This may be a local story, or one from afar, but there is a story just the same. Our goal is to make the provenace clear. Meanwhile, from now till closing, we'd like to encourage you to stop by to enjoy clearance pricing on selected items in the store, including some fixtures and furniture. Watch for updates on twitter and our social page. marshall
